Y Pant Comprehensive School
Project Description
Secured under the SEWSCAP Framework, in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. The state-of-the-art 8,743m2 facility replaced the old and outdated previous campus with the design and construction of a 1,400-capacity comprehensive school, including a 300-pupil sixth form.
Working next to the existing school, which remained live throughout the scheme, the project comprised the construction of a new two-storey teaching facility, a 3G sports pitch to FIFA stage 1 recommendations, a new Multi Use Games Area, two grass football pitches, and a grass rugby pitch. The project also included the refurbishment of the existing drama and sports facilities – the only part of the existing campus that remained.
Following the completion of the new build and a safe transition of pupils into their new facility, the team commenced demolition of the old facilities, to leave the school with a transformational learning campus fit for the 21st Century.

Social Value & Community Engagement
During the construction period, we participated in several community engagement and social value events.
- Dedicated pupil ‘reporters’ visited the site creating updates for the school to keep everyone up to date on progress.
- Special “Dear Neighbour” newsletters also kept everyone in the school and the surrounding community up-to-date.
- The project team also formed a partnership with the Pontyclun Food Bank to make regular donations.
- The team held ‘Meet the Buyer’ events held during the project.
- Charity football match with the school v the construction team raising over £2000.
- Continued providing work experience and apprenticeship placements
