Sustainability

Through innovative practices and eco-friendly solutions, Langstone Construction strive to minimise our carbon footprint, promote energy efficiency, and prioritise the use of sustainable materials.

Environment

Our Environmental Management System is ISO 14001 certified and we are dedicated to monitoring and seeking to reduce our energy use and minimise waste through reducing, reusing and recycling throughout the business.

We embed the principles of sustainability within our procurement activities to ensure that only value-for-money products are selected and that in all cases a balanced consideration of social, ethical, environmental and economic impacts are undertaken throughout the procurement process.

Langstone Construction Group is actively involved in working with consultant teams to consider renewable alternatives and solutions on projects.

Our Commitment

  • Ensure materials are sourced from ‘legal’ or ‘legal and sustainable’ sources

  • Implement a chain of custody from the supply route to the final point of usage

  • Guarantee compliance with demands for ethically sourced products

  • Limit the usage of materials from non-renewable sources and minimise the embodied impact of products on the environment

  • Use suppliers that are committed to sourcing products responsibly and operate a code of conduct

  • Implement our Responsible Procurement Policy via certification of material supply and continually strive to improve our sustainability performance

    Minimise the impact on the sustainability of our construction, office and transportation activities

  • Make clients, subcontractors and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices

  • Our sites incorporate sustainable practices including site offices have an EPC rating of B or higher, PIR lighting, reducing landfill waste by recycling construction waste, rainwater harvesting, recycling facilities for operatives, bird feeders and bird baths, linking in with local recycling centres

  • Offer offcuts and pallets to community groups/schools

  • Waste contractors audited to support our target of zero waste to landfill

Health & Safety

Our Health, Safety and Environmental Policy has been defined by Senior Management and approved by the board.

We have been accredited to ISO 45001 for implementing, maintaining and continually improving our Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system. This eliminates, or minimises risk, to employees and other interest parties (including the public), who may be exposed to OH&S risk associated with our activities

As well as complying with all laws and regulations, we work ethically to help us make the right decisions in everything we do. It gives our customers, employees, sub-contractors, and suppliers the confidence to trust us and do business with us.

At Langstone Construction Group we are committed to serving and helping the local areas in which we work through the use of local labour and suppliers to support the regional economy; engaging the local schools and colleges in our activities and aiding them with curriculum-based activities as well as contributing to community projects through donations or materials and/ or labour.

We are also a Partner Member of the Considerate Constructor Scheme and as such register all our sites under the scheme. We are committed to raising the standards within our industry and believe that working with the Considerate Constructor Scheme is instrumental to this.

We understand that our activities have an impact on the surrounding areas, and we work hard to ensure these are positive.

Carbon Reduction Plan

Langstone Construction Group are officially Carbon Neutral as assessed by Blue Marble.

Carbon neutrality is important for our industry as it helps mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

It demonstrates environmental responsibility, ensures compliance with regulations, and can lead to cost savings and efficiency through energy-saving practices.
