Cascade Tower

Cardiff

We were appointed by Linc Cymru Housing Association in to construct the development known as Cascade Tower in the heart of Cardiff. The scheme comprised the development of 48 affordable residential units at 48-54 City Road and a connected site to the rear on what was previously 1-3 Vere Street.

Project Description

The former snooker hall and second hand furniture retail space was condemned in Autumn 2018 and has since been demolished, leaving a level development plateau.

Linc's particular aspiration for the scheme is to build a highly innovative engineered timber structure - the first of its kind in Wales - that also presents an outstanding example of the integration of SuDs planting systems in line with future requirements of new guidance.

As well as integrating these innovative techniques a key aim of the project is to provide homes for single people and couples. As such, a key to the project is creating spaces which foster incidental social engagement between residents, laying the best possible foundation for the establishment of a neighbourhood and a community of long term tenants.
